"Dear Richard - Thank you for your very thorough inspection and your timely and detailed report. We did go forward with the mold inspection you suggested. We were dismayed to find that as you suspected there is most likely a substantial problem with mold in the house. The estimate just to remediate the mold was $11,000. This price did not include any of the costs for replacing and rebuilding cabinets, sheet rock, flooring etc. Although this was very upsetting to us as we really wanted to purchase the house, you have potentially saved us thousands of dollars and possible health problems had we gone ahead with the purchase. Just in case you are curious we found out that the damage was done deliberately and that water was actually running into the street for two days. The water damage in the laundry room came from deliberate damage to the line for the icemaker.
I also appreciated your willingness to explain things to me and to answer the many questions I asked. Our money was well spent and we will recommend you to others. We may even see you again as we are currently looking at other houses!
